If you have missing teeth and are not a good candidate for dental implants, Dr. Nidal Elias may recommend a full or partial denture as your tooth replacement procedure. Full dentures are needed when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures may be a good choice when only some of the teeth have been lost. A denture is very durable and designed to last several years. We can discuss your tooth replacement options during your consultation.
If you have lost all of the teeth in an arch and want a permanent tooth replacement procedure, a fixed denture may be your best option. A fixed denture can only be removed at the dental office and may be supported by a set of dental implants for a more secure fit.
A traditional denture is removable and can be an attractive option for patients who have not experienced extensive bone loss. Resting on top of the gums, a traditional denture is secured with paste or adhesive. This denture does run the risk of slipping or moving, so this option may not be the ideal solution for some patients.
Partial dentures are placed when you still have some natural teeth in an arch. We create a custom denture to replace only the missing teeth, and the appliance is attached to existing teeth for support. We can show you how these work and discuss the benefits they provide during your consultation.
You can extend the life of a denture with proper cleaning, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits. We do offer denture solutions for patients who have experienced bone loss and can determine the type of tooth replacement option appropriate for you during your consultation.
